Southern Medical Clinic’s Pharmacy is headed by our senior pharmacist, Ms. Debera Lackhan-Maraj assisted by Mrs. Joy Florentino, junior pharmacist, and the rest of the team of pharmacy assistants and data entry clerk. Together they work to provide a comprehensive range of pharmacy services to patients, doctors, other health professionals, and even pharmacies in the surrounding areas. They are always on hand to advise patients as to the proper use of medicines dispensed and they go the extra mile to ensure that patients get what they need.
The pharmacy’s formulary caters to the multi-disciplinary specialties offered at Southern Medical and is therefore wide and varied and our staff ensures that our doctors have on hand all the medicines required to have the best possible outcomes for our patients.
Our pharmacy is the ‘go to’ pharmacy for patients who have difficulty in finding medicines that are not commonly available especially for in and out patients of the surrounding medical institutions.
We play an integral role in the oncology department since we manage and stock our chemotherapy suite and our pharmacists prepare the chemotherapy drugs necessary for treatment of our oncology patients. We have at times also extended our service to the oncology department of nearby institutions in an effort to ensure that their patients were not denied treatment when it was due and we frequently fill prescriptions for oncology drugs for patients needing them when they are not available elsewhere.
The pharmacy opening hours are 8.00 am to 6.00 pm from Monday to Friday, 8.00 am to 1.00 pm on Saturdays, and closed to the public on Sundays and Public Holidays.

Southern Medical Services Limited provides a range of food and nutrition services including inpatient therapeutic meals, nutrition support and outpatient nutrition consultations.
Inpatient Services
The foodservice department provides to all patients a variety of attractive, nutritious meals made with quality ingredients. The department strives to offer meals that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of our patients. Our team consists of highly trained and skilled Therapeutic Cooks and a Registered Dietitian that ensures each patient receives specialized meals that accommodate dietary requests and help optimize recovery. The Dietitian, in conjunction with the interdisciplinary health care team, works closely with patients to provide optimal nutritional care.
Patients may be referred to the Dietitian by a consulting doctor or they may request a dietitian consultation during their stay.
Outpatient Services
Society has been burdened with an increase of chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD’S) such as diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and cancer. The World Health Organization’s health profile on Trinidad and Tobago, estimates that these diseases account for approximately 80% of total deaths in our population. Southern Medical Services Limited provides the service of Dietetic Consultation that creates a healthier lifestyle and thus reduces the risk of developing diseases or control symptoms associated with these diseases.
